Glass & Glazing

For our standard double-glazed sealed units we use 4-16-4 glazing, incorporating a white, bronze or silver space bar and a warm edge spacer bar as standard. This reduces heat loss through the spacer bar itself and improves the overall performance of the glazed unit. If required, a Super Spacer bar can be provided at an additional cost.

Special orders to accommodate larger cavities and triple-glazing can be arranged.

Every door and window is factory glazed in a controlled environment using a dry drainage system. Security tape is fixed to the casement with a second tape adhered to the beads which are then secured with stainless steel pins. There are no unsightly drainage beads as we have our own unique system to give a truly traditional look.

Plant on glazing bars are applied as above.

Westbury offer a wide range of glass including:

  • Low-E (low emissive) high quality clear glass with a specially formulated pyrolitic, soft coating applied to one surface during glass manufacture. This allows solar gain but reflects heat back into the building. (Only available with double-glazing).
  • Argon gas-filled cavity. This involves replacing the air in the cavity by injecting an inert gas called Argon. Argon is denser than air, making it a poorer conductor thus ensuring less heat loss. This can be a requirement for building control on large glazed areas. Calculation charts for U values can be supplied on request.
  • Our traditional single-glazed doors and windows have the glass siliconed into place for added security, ready for putty on site. 4mm float or toughened (safety glass) is recommended – available clear, patterned or etched.

Westbury can provide glazing to meet all your requirements.
